Despite the fact that his men suffered from dysentery on the night of August 15, General Horatio Gates chose to engage the British on the morning of August 16. Although the Continentals outnumbered the British two to one, the encounter was a disaster. Did You Know? After the Continental army suffered several defeats in late 1777, General Thomas Conway allegedly tried, unsuccessfully, to discredit George Washington and have him replaced with Horatio Gates. The rumored conspiracy would go down in history as the Conway Cabal. Gates seriously overestimated the number of soldiers he had available for combat; when he finally realized his mistake, it was too late to withdraw. ...
Share Print One of the most famous images of the 20th Century was that of the giant German airship Hindenurg engulfed in flames. The explosion was blamed on hydrogen gas but Dr Karl reckons it can't be so. By Karl S. Kruszelnicki Back in the middle 1930s, if you were wealthy enough to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, there were two choices - noisy, small and cramped aeroplanes, or quiet and spacious airships that got their lift from huge bladders filled with hydrogen gas. Back then, it was still an even bet as to which technology would win in the long run - the faster and noisy aeroplanes, or the slower and more relaxed Lighter-Than-Air airships. The answer was settled in favour of the aeroplanes in 1937, when the enormous Nazi hydrogen-filled airship, the Hindenburg, slowly maneuvered in
I am a 9th grader and I'm smarter than you so. Ha Since I am a 9th grader I have much more experience with school and have vastly superior knowledge to any one else so if you really think about you all are a bunch of fools who don't know anything. It's a great program, nothing like they make it out to be. Year round schooling is not what people make it out to be. You attend school the 180 days and have the same holiday breaks like any other traditional school. The difference is the different plans. The 45-15, 60-20, and the 90-30. You attend
As a nurse, you ll be placing tourniquets on patient s arms for tasks such as drawing blood, inserting IVs, and more. Therefore, it s important to learn how toP put on a tourniquet properly. The best method to start a tourniquet is to use the simple rubber tourniquet band provided in theP Pkit or blood drawing kit. These bands are very lightweight and flexible, and they allow you to make a simple but effective compressionPon a patient s arm without actually tying a knot. Instead, all you have to do is loop it around snugly, cross the bands,Pand then form a simple loop. This allows you to remove the tourniquet quickly and easily once you ve finished your procedure. At first it may be a little intimidating, but with a little practice, you ll be able to apply and remove one with ease.
Well, the whole play is structured around what, to its original audience, would be one colossal case of dramatic irony. Sophocles' audience would have alrea dy known the Oedipus story, and the very name "Oedipus" would be synonymous with sleeping with his mother and killing his father. That means that, even before the play began, the audience would know the ending. This terrific dramatic irony would mean that, every time Oedipus talks about finding the cause of the Theban plague, the audience would know exactly what the cause was: Oedipus himself. Within the construction of the play, there are ironies all over the place. As Oedipus killed his father on the crossroads, he felt confident that he'd left his father behind him in Corinth. Oedipus solves the riddle
But I cannot figure out why. I have tried adjusting browser settings, clearing cache, clearing the extensions. My PC is Virus and Trojan free. I know its not my ISP, because when I play league of legends on my PC or any other online game, it loads up VERY FAST and connects to the server quickly, with no lag solid ping. Ive done speed tests on the speed test sites and everything is normal Also. Netflix on all my wired and wireless devices runs smooth. All my other devices in the house (Phones, laptops, tablets) that can load webpages are loading them at blazing speeds when hooked wired and wirelessly to the same router. I built this PC myself and its always been speedy. Something happened out of nowhere. Heres another odd discovery too. certain web pages are loading improperly now as
I have an indoor-outdoor cat (neutered male) that is four years old. Sometimes in the morning I will find a dying or dead mouse or bird on the front porch. Gross! Why does he bring me presents like this? Thanks в A. Z. Dear A. Z. , As gross as it may be, this is your catвs way of showing his affection в that or trying to teach you something. Our domestic cats once had to live off their hunting skills and even though they might not need to hunt to eat today, some still enjoy the activity. In the wild, a mother cat would hunt small animals or birds, and bring them back to her kittens for food. In time, she would bring back dinner while it was still alive in order to teach her kittens how to hunt for themselves. Your cat is expressing a nurturing nature by gifting you with your dinner, as
he s not quite a year and a half, and i ve had him since he was a baby. he is my first hamster. never been sick up until now at first i just thought he was being lazy, but when i opened his cage to feed him and he got up, he was SHAKING like rocking back and forth when he walked (like he was drunk) he was kind of zig-zagging over to his bowl, like he couldn t see (his eyes were half closed) when he walks his back and legs are kinda stiff too, like he can t really bend them. he has a wet bottom, but i m not sure if it s diarrhea or hes just been sitting in his pee. he also looks pretty red and sore down there if you know what i mean. he s been lying around for the past couple of days in the same corners, and he stopped getting up for water so i m feeding him by hand and giving him water
"hand held remote control. " Prior to the "remote" you had to get off the couch and walk to the TV to turn it on, change the channels, or turn it up or down or off. During this same time frame War films and Westerns were the main programs. Cop shows were rare; Dragnet, Car 54, and later Adam 12 were just a few of them. The main programs were War (Rin Tin Tin, Combat, PT109, In Harms Way, They Were Expendable, Pork Chop Hill, From Here to Eternity, McHales Navy, etc. ) and Westerns (Wyatt Earp, The Texas Rangers, Wanted Dead or Alive, Paladin, Johnny Yuma, Roy Rogers, Sky King, etc). So Americans were used to by the 1960s. ...
I m no etymologist, but I ve always been intrigued by the origin of words в especially as it applies to cars. There are, after all, a number of terms that we use every day in our industry that make no sense at all. That is, of course, until you understand where they come from. To satisfy my own curiosity, as well as to give everyone some fun facts to share with customers,ВI ll be doing a little bit of research on the origin of industry terms and posting my findings here from time to time. To start off, let s take a look at where the terms glove box and jockey box come from. Of course, I m referring to that large lockable compartment automakers build into the dashboard. But the terms used to describe it are odd. After all, neither gloves nor jockeys have anything to do with driving a car.
