Okay so im in this debating class and my opponent is staring at this webpage waiting for me to expose my argument. Well, I will not but just one. Felons are just peoples like us! So they really realllly reallllllllly should get the right to vote, even if they are in jail. Thanks! Prisoners are allowed to vote in Maine and Vermont, and it hasn't had any negative side effects. What justification do we have to restrict felons from voting? I do not understand this system we have that traps people in a cycle of committing crimes over and over again. Well I can see how it makes corporations money. Its likely everyone knows someone that was a felon at some point. This country jails a higher % of its people than any other nation on earth mainly because your worth money to them its that simple.
Beyond the statues, water fountain and seasonal flora on the Green, stories reside within the brick and mortar of University of Vermont's centuries-old foundational buildings. Students may be away, but professor emeritus William Averyt is on hand to teach visitors on University Place every Saturday morning through October. Six people took the first Historical Walking Tour of the season Saturday. It focused on what most locals call University Row. Tour-goers meet Averyt at the bronze statue of Ira Allen, the university's founder. Averyt explained Allen's vision for Burlington as the tour began. He hoped for it to one day be a booming metropolis, something Allen called New Columbia. "Brothers Ira and Ethan Allen were real estate speculators," Averyt said. "Ira Allen was the dreamer. He had
A few decades back, an upstanding member of the global warming alarmist community said that if the public was going to take the threat of man-caused climate change seriously, the alarmists were going to have to exaggerate the evidence. It was in 1989 that Stephen Schneider wrote in Discover magazine that in order "to capture the public's imagination. we have to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements, and make little mention of any doubts we might have. " Let's not forget that the late climatologist was first a believer in global cooling in the 1970s. He was worried that a new ice age was coming. Of course the alarmist community has followed Schneider's script. It's spent much of the last three decades trying to spook the public into a panic. One example of this
You may have heard of the Amish being refereed to as БPlain PeopleБ and a main reason why they are called that is because of the way they dress; very plainly. You will never see patterns on any of their clothing and all of the menБs suits, and the womenБs dresses, are all plain colored. The rules require that only solid colors can be used and the colors typically consist of black, blue, burgundy, brown, purple, or green. Want to learn what clothing Amish men and women wear on a day-to-day basis? Below are short descriptions of what a typical outfit would look like for both men and women. Amish Men: In all districts of the Amish community men wear black colored suits that are fastened with a hook and eye and have no outside pockets. The trousers that the men wear have no zippers and
Students of the Old Testament are aware of the fact that certain types of meat were considered unclean under the Mosaic economy. According to the regulations set forth in Leviticus 11 and Deuteronomy 14, the Hebrews could eat: 1. animals that were cloven hoofed and chewed the cud (e. g. , cattle, sheep); 2. fish with fins and scales; 3. fowl that did not consume flesh (the vulture was forbidden); 4. some insects (e. g. , locusts). Some of these requirements likely had to do with health considerations. Overall, however, they were to set Israel apart as a holy nation unto Jehovah (Deut. 14:21). Some religionists do not understand that these dietary requirements were confined to the Mosaic system, and since that regime is not in force today (Col. 2:14), we are not restricted as to what
, This is an adaption of a quote by Anne Sullivan who was Helen Keller s teacher. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart. Many associate this quote with Helen Keller though in her book The Story of my Life, she mentions that her teacher (who was Anne Sullivan) had said this to her. when we pray? when we cry? when we dream? or when we kiss? ...
In the original Dracula, sunlight does not kill vampires. During the day, when the sun is out, they just don't have their super strength (and I think they lose a few other "superpowers" as well). The sunlight killing vampires is more recent. Stephanie Meyer didn't do any research on vampires. In an Time Magazine, she admits this: What kind of research on vampires, if any, did you do before writing Twilight? БJen Potcher, BOISE, IDAHO The only time I really did any research on vampires was when the character Bella did research on vampires. Because I was creating my own world, I didn't want to find out just how many rules I was breaking. (This is the 8th question in the interview, so it's almost at the bottom. ) Welcome to the MLP Lounge, A meeting place for bronies to discuss anything and
When that approximately 13 percent of Covenant Universityвs class of 2017 finished with a first class degree, a lot of people took to social media to express their overall concerns regarding university education in Nigeria. In fact, as at the time of writing this, many are still struggling to understand what one Twitter user has described as the bastardization of the quality of Nigerian education. It is not a surprise that people are upset, considering the general idea that securing a first class degree in a private university is вcomparatively easierв than in a public university. On one hand, some people say private universities are not serious institutions and are making life easy for students. They say that people who go to private universities essentially pay their way to good grades.
I hadn t experienced the pain before either since it seems I don t ovulate often on my own, but I ve done 5 cycles of ovulation induction and each time I have (thankfully and miraculously) ovulated, afterwards for a few days I would get pain, quite like a bubble being in my side, very unpleasant and actually very similar to the pain I had when I had 3 large cysts on my ovary recently (which were removed) but the pain was to a lesser degree. ...
Question: Why do Indians have long hair? Excerpt:ббб For most Indians, hair was only cut under certain circumstancesБ Many Dine, or Navajo, cut childrenБs hair on their first birthday and then do not cut it againБ Among some tribes, hair was cut as part of tribal mourning customsБYou can imagine how it must have felt for many native children to have their hair cut against their will upon entrance into U. S. government-run boarding schools (see page 138). What is it about long hair that lends itself to be thought of as something uniquely Native American? Even in my own experience I attempted to grow my hair long to be more Indian. It didnБt work. My hair is thick and wavy. Not only does it grow in length, but in width. So much for that long black braid I was dreaming of! For many of us,
