By far, the most destructive tsunamis are generated from large, shallow earthquakes with an epicenter or fault line near or on the ocean floor. These usually occur in regions of the earth characterized by tectonic subduction along tectonic plate boundaries. The high seismicity of such regions is caused by the collision of tectonic plates. When these plates move past each other, they cause large earthquakes, which tilt, offset, or displace large areas of the ocean floor from a few kilometers to as much as a 1,000 km or more. The sudden vertical displacements over such large areas, disturb the ocean's surface, displace water, and generate destructive tsunami waves. The waves can travel great distances from the source region, spreading destruction along their path. For example, the Great
I thought it may have been a loose ribbon cable - worked on external monitor and like above has some variations in color shading and light stripes at times. At a local shop I started to bust screen apart at the rubber gasket edge (there are no screws on this Pavilion dv6) and loosening some double sided tape, tech came over and clamshelled it open pulling the 4 screws holding in the lcd into a metal frame. ...
First, would everybody quit with the Arabic/English transliteration stuff. YES, those are alternative spellings and YES, Usama is how the US. First, would everybody quit with the Arabic/English transliteration stuff. YES, those are alternative spellings and YES, Usama is how the US gov t formally spells it. BUT that s not the real question. The question really is why Fox News has suddenly started spelling it that way [again]. If you look at their website Fox News has been using Osama for quite some time and indeed they have category labels and web addresses that spell it Osama. But yesterday the name was suddenly and consistently Usama at Fox News. So it s not a misspelling and it s not accidental. There s a reason they ve made the switch, and because it is Fox News it s fun to try to
I have a rescue Chihuahua. Apparently, she was in bad shape when the rescue got her and she had been living on the streets as a stray. She had extensive dental issues, a hematoma on her ear, and she suffers from nerve damage that causes her back food to curl under. As a result, she has developed pads on the top of her foot. Due to these issues they really could not give a good guess at her age. Her dental issues and hematoma were resolved. There is nothing that can be done regarding her foot- but it doesnt really affect her. Though she is a little overweight, but not much. Several weeks ago, I woke up in the middle of the night hearing her wretch. I picked her up and realized that she was completely limp like dead limp. I discovered that her front paw was caught in her collar. I removed
Worse during certain times during the day? Typically, allergy patients suffer most during the morning and evening hours and will exhibit excessive licking. Of course, this is when most pet-parents are home and trying to relax. Instead, you spend time trying to alleviate your dogБs discomfort. The slurping of paws in the middle of the night is always welcome! : Allergies typically develop between the ages of 1-6 years of age and will often worsen with time. This is the opposite of what most people expect, as we tend to see lessening of our symptoms over time. We now know that dogs are similar to humans with eczema. Dogs absorb the allergens through their skin explaining why dogsБ feet are a common trouble spot. After all, dog feet come in contact with a lot of stuff! Once the allergens
We have asked Canadians about their mobile plans and experience with wireless service providers, each year, since the Wireless Code was created. Here's what we found: (April 7, 2014) (April 7, 2014) Each year the reports publicly on all consumer complaints about the Wireless Code. These reports list the types of complaints that have been resolved and what steps were taken to resolve them. Read their. We made all providers report publicly on their compliance to ensure they were following the rules. You can read the results in the [ ] which is based on the providers. The CRTC has also commissioned a report by to provide an overview of the collection and use of Canadians Personal Information (PI) by Wireless Service Providers (WSP) and third party entities. The report aims to: Contribute to
The other day on I said, What is everyone handing out for Halloween this year? We re doing our usual glow sticks. I d love to feature some of your new and creative (non-candy) ideas on the Charlotte Today show later this week! And I got a barrage of comments, many of which simply answered the question, but also included some of the following I m sorry, but it s Halloween and they re children. We give out candy. This crosses the line. Too much. It s once a year! If you don t want to hand out candy, replace it with a healthy alternative treat. But substituting junk food with junky plastic crap isn t much better in my opinion. First of all, I NEVER said my kids don t get to eat candy on Halloween night. The problem is this: When some people hear that I hand out glow sticks instead of candy
When we think of washing machines, we think of clean, fresh-smelling clothes. Laundry is supposed to have a comforting aromaвone thatвs so well-loved that there are even designed to mimic its scent. But what do you do when your front-load washer stinks? Before you resign yourself to a musty, mildewy, sour-scented existence, consider this: Your washer probably isnвt defectiveвit just needs some TLC. A few simple steps could help eliminate that stench forever. Thatвs right, my friends: Itвs all smooth, fresh-smelling sailing from here on out. Grab your hampers, keep your heads high, and scrub stinky clothes from your life for good. We took an in-depth look at the relative performance of front- and top-load washers, and found that in virtually every way. That came as no surprise, since
1. Introduction Hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic association are two of the principal interactions that determine biomolecular structures and assemblies. Globular proteins are believed to fold by minimizing exposed hydrophobic surface, while simultaneously forming specific hydrogen bonds mainly in the form of secondary structures; amphiphilic molecules such as lipids spontaneously form mesoscopic and macroscopic assemblies in water, which often exhibit a large degree of structural polymorphism because of slight shifts in the balance among hydrogen bonding, hydrophobic interactions, and entropy. Despite significant progress in understanding these interactions from experiment as well as theory, it remains generally difficult to dissect individual contributions to the overall stability of
