why does my neighbor dog bark all the time

All the neighbors have to call about the dog. PIt might take a campaign to get animal control to issue a notice. I m down for lacing treats with something that can help a bad owner s dog. PAnyone who would assume someone like myself is not afraid of confrontation with a bad owner is wrong. PI just know it goes nowhere, because there are shitty people who own dogs and don t take care of them. PArguing with them about their barking dog sincerely does NOTHING. They need a big enough fine, and then they hate you, forever.

PPeople who don t take care of their dogs actually retaliate, because they are jerks. PThey do horrible stuff, like go after YOUR pets, or slash tires. I also advocate kidnapping starving dogs that you can see through the fence, because animal control won t come out half the time, they re too backed up. Helping their poor pet calm down is not a bad idea, and yup, there are pilling treats that vets actually recommend.

And FYI, melatonin works too, but it s harder to dose by eyeballing.
Make helpful suggestions. It's possible your neighbor is well aware of the issue, but isn't sure how to. If you're pretty sure you know what the problem is, there's nothing wrong with making suggestions. This is especially effective if you're a dog owner, too. You can commiserate over how tough it can be to get a dog to stop barking.

Here are a few common problems you might consider bringing up: Dogs kept outside commonly bark from boredom; this is especially true for energetic breeds like German Shepherds, terriers (including Pit Bulls), and guard dogs like Dobermans and Rottweilers. Suggest that the dog needs more exercise. Some dogs are very excitable and nervous, and they bark at everything that passes. Obedience training can be very helpful.

You might want to provide the names of a few well-rated training schools in the area. Dogs also bark when they're either too cold or too hot. Many people have the misconception that dogs' fur keeps them warm in subzero weather; it's not the case, unless the dog is a husky. If you've seen the dog shivering or looking miserable in the heat of the day, tell your neighbor the dog could be barking because its uncomfortable.
