why does firefox keep closing on its own

posted by Hello,
For some reason today, my firefox has started automatically closing down without a crash or error message appearing. It does not register as a crash either as it did not appear when I check the crash logs. I have tried in Safe Mode, refreshed Firefox and even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. Lastly, I tried to unchecked the option of 'Use hardware acceleration when available' but this problem is still persisting. Anti-virus scan (Kaspersky 2016) hasn't picked up any problems either. The only thing I have done differently today is to delete my temp folders via Disk cleanup but I didn't think this would cause problems with Firefox like this?

I am running Windows 10 and using Firefox 44. 0. 2. Any ideas on what the problem may be? Best wishes,
I have this problem, too Do you notice any pattern? Web site, time on line. You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the article. Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up. Hello, I couldn't find a specific time frame or website that caused it to close. I did a whole bunch of scans on Kaspersky (Vulnerability scan, Rootkit, Quick scan, Full scan - the works). Neutralised the detected threats and there were some windows updates installed (not sure if that makes a difference or not) but so far it seems to have fixed the problem.

I have had a firefox window opened for the last 15-20 minutes without it closing so I am hopeful it's worked. If anyone has the same problem I recommend the above suggestions (from FredMcD) and running scans with your current anti-virus software as well. Thank you so much for your quick and helpful reply. Good luck, and keep us posted. posted by When I use ANZ banking, and I click on "Log on", it opens up a new tab; the weird thing isn't that the tab gets shut down immediately, but only after I input my log in details and click "log in" that the tab gets shut.

Other tabs that get shut include, when I click on a link in my email and it pops up in a new tab. Those get blocked immediately. I've been trying to "unsubscribe" from a few emails already and the pop up always gets blocked. I've already disabled "block pop up" in the settings but it isn't working. I have this problem, too Make sure you are not blocking content. {web link} by holding down the Shift (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
