why do we give offering in church

What does the Bible say about tithing? In Malachi 3:10, God says, Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test! This is the only time in the whole Bible where God tells us to test him! It s almost like God is saying, I dare you, try to out-give me! What is a tithe? The word tithe literally mans a tenth (10%). So a tithe is when you give your first 10% of your income back to God. An offering is anything you give beyond 10%. So why do we tithe? to put God first in our lives (Matthew 6:33). Giving reminds us that God is the source of every good thing (James 1:17) and invites God to place his blessings in our lives.

We research best practices in church finances in order to better understand our giving and expense allocation.
