why do we praise and worship god

You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You. Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. (
TodayБs big question: why should we praise God? In the last devotional, we focused on what praising God means. Using the same passage, we now will examine why we should praise God. Scripture clearly expresses the importance of praising God, but if we do not understand the reason behind it, we lose our foundational basis for praising HimБpraise without meaning is empty. We must be sure our foundation is the truth of God in every area, including praise. Many people end up praising fallible human beings rather than God because they lack the truth. Б They exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen Romans 1:25, ESV ). For example, who should we put our faith inБthe scientists whose opinions always change and have not always been there or God who never changes and has always been?

The answer may seem obvious, but many would rather praise the creature instead of the Creator. We must recognize that God is our Creator; He is our Lord, and as a result, we should praise Him: Know that the Lord, He is God; it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. ( ). б Moreover, we should also praise God for His unending mercy. Salvation is from God, and He has given us many spiritual blessings. Our response should be one of praise and glory to God. After all, the Lord is good, and His mercy is everlasting. Praising Him does not end here, however. As finite human beings, we can never truly give God all the praise he deserves. Б Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Who can declare all His praise? ). Of course, these are rhetorical questions, as the answer is most definitely Бno one. Б Sadly, there are those who do not want to recognize God as their Creator, because they do not want to be accountable to Him.

Instead, they worship His creation. As Christians, we should never compromise by exalting the creation over the Creator. We need to stand firm on the truth of GodБs WordБour foundation for praising God. TodayБs big idea: the truth of GodБs Word is our foundation for praising Him. What to pray: ask God to help us to never compromise His Word and to give Him the praise that is due Him. What is Praise and Worship and Why is It Important? Praise and Worship. Two very common words we often hear in church and yet many Christians still have misconceptions on what it is all about, why it matters and how to do it. So, here, we are going to cover an important topic for the individual Christian and for the Church as a whole. What is Praise and Worship? According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, Praise (noun) is defined as Б an expression of approval Б while worship is Б an act of expressing reverence to a divine being or supernatural power Б.

So basically, we can simply boil the two words, i. e. Praise and Worship, down as an expression. б ThereБs a DifferenceБ Praise is primarily the expression of approval. In its fullest sense, praise also includes the expression of gratitude and thanksgiving for favors received. However, the purest forms of praise are expressions of admiration and adoration irrespective of whether or not the favors have been received. ThatБs why we praise God not JUST for what HeБs done but ultimately, for what He is. Worship, on the other hand, is primarily the adoration of GodБs person, character, attributes and perfection. It is an expression of our love towards God. Admiration is an inner awareness of the worthiness of God. But unless it is expressed outwardly, it does not become worship. So, we worship God because we love Him for who He is and not for what HeБs done. Б Give unto the LORD the glory due unto His Name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holinessБ (Psalm 29:2). So, Why Do We Need to Praise and Worship God?

The primary purpose of praising and worshipping God is to strengthen the bond of love between man and God. In other words, our relationship with God is solidified through praise and worship. We donБt praise and worship God because He needs it. No. God will still be God even if the whole mankind refuses or forgets to worship Him. Jesus said that Б if the people keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out Б (Luke 19:40). You see, there is no shortage of the shouts of praise and the acts of worship for God because the whole creation testifies to who He is and what HeБs done. When we praise and worship God, He reveals more of himself to us and so, we can know Him deeper. Conclusion We learn that praise and worship is imperative to every Christian. ItБs part of being who we are. Furthermore, we learn that praise and worship is not music. Actually, music is just a component of praise and worship. Why? Because praise and worship is: It doesnБt really need to do that. God bless! Sources: The Shepherd s Staff
