why do they call prince william wills
His name is William, full name: William Philip Arther Louis. His father wanted to name him Arther, or so I ve heard, but Diana thought it sounded like an old man s name. She convinced Charles to name him William instead in honour of his 24th great-grandfather William the Conqueror. Philip is for his grandfather, and Louis is for an uncle, Lord Louis Mountbatten, who was murdered by terrorists not long before William s birth. When he was still less than a year old his parents brought him with them to Australia, there during a photo call with the press Charles was overheard calling him Wills. I doubt anyone but his closest friends and occasionally the media ever use the nickname.
If you ve ever seen the photos of Diana Charles with the baby Prince sitting on a blanket outside. that s the photo call where Charles was overheard calling his son Wills.
We have always wondered what Prince William and Kate Middleton call one another. Our interest in this subject came about years ago after it was (heavily) alleged that she called him Big Willy, but that was then. What about now? Has Kate moved on from that and shortened it to БBee DubyaБ? And what does Wills call Kate? БPrincessБ, through gritted teeth when heБs annoyed?
Well, now our questions are about to be answeredБ almost. Yesterday the couple attended the Chelsea Flower Show, along with Prince Harry, and according to two different sources, Kate does indeed have a nickname for William, but the facts are a little blurred as to what it is. The БsourcesБ are referring to the same moment in time, but retelling it with two different names. HereБs what we do know: the nickname-calling occurred when the Royal couple were looking at an Australian plant called Buxus. Speaking to Hello! Mick said: БThey seemed very interested in the garden. William in particular, he said, БThis for me is gold by far.
Б He also asked what this plant was (pointing to a Buxus) and Kate said to him, Б Darling, weБve got that. ББ So thatБs option one, Darling. And now, could Australian TV presenter and landscape gardener, Charlie Albone step forward. It was CharlieБs garden that Kate and Wills were admiring when he heard a slightly different moniker used. Speaking on Channel 9Бs The Today Show, Charlie said: БI got to meet Prince Will and Prince Harry. Prince William was quite funny actually. He came up and said: БWhat [flower] is this one? Б, and I replied: БThatБs a Buxus.
БББPrincess Catherine just turned to him and said: Б Babe, weБve got those. WeБve got loads of those. ББ When presenters Karl Stefanovic and Lisa Wilkinson started laughing at this revelation and asked: БKate actually called him Б babe Б did she!? Б Charlie replied: БYeah she actually called him Б babe Б, and said БweБve got loads of thoseБ. Б So weБve got Darling vs. Babe. WeБd remain neutral on the matter, but weБre pushing for Babe. Like really pushing. WeБre also hoping she calls him БBabeliciousБ, БBabakinsБ and БBubbaDuke. Б
