why do school uniforms reduce violence in schools
Introducing Uniforms at School to Reduce Violence. Introducing uniforms to reduce violence will not work. Sure it may allow people to be slightly more confident, and not afraid because everyone is dressed the same but, that does not reduce the chance someone will have the thoughts to harm someone outside of school or inside because of who they are. If the cause of violence is because of the style or choice of clothing then when the children are allowed to face life on their own, and because they couldn't deal with the fact someone dressed a certain way, the violence will rise outside of school, and into their adult if they can't handle the differences. Uniforms can't prevent crime no matter who is wearing them. This is one of those things that Americans love to bring up without any basis in fact. But let's look at the British school system, where uniforms are the cultural norm. Kids there are still getting into trouble, still committing crimes, and still bullying their classmates. The uniform isn't going to stop children from being cruel. Why would it? What could possibly be gained from introducing mandatory school uniforms that would prevent violence? Violence is not an issue about expression or fashion, violence is a mental health issue, a bullying issue, an issue with the way our social environment has become. Making everyone uniform is not going to stop that - postal workers wear uniforms, don't they? Kids can still commit crimes and be violent even when they are wearing school uniforms. Students will still find things to fight over and reasons to hate each other. There will still be things to steal or damage. Changes in policies and more effective punishments for violations might be better solutions.
More staff who are better trained to deal with the students would also be helpful. It is, at best, unlikely, that school uniforms will reduce crime and violence in schools. It is unlikely that school uniforms will reduce crime and violence in schools, for the following reasons. First, there is no evidence that crime and violence in schools is the result of diverse clothing. While it is true that there is the occasional "expensive sneaker robbery" crime, there is no evidence that this is a primary motivation for crime or violence. Second, requiring young people to wear uniforms is unlikely to curb their violent instincts (assuming they have such instincts). Rather, it appears more likely to make them angry. Finally, most families will only be able to afford one or two uniforms, which means that students will often go to school in un-laundered uniforms, which will cause classrooms to stink and likely lead to more (not less) violence.
When a kid wears a uniform they lose creativity in expression. But they don't use it in other ways. When the child gets fed up or angry, where does that creativity go? Violence and other rebellious things. I know from experience that uniforms can really put you on edge if you don't agree. And at my school there were two to three fights a day. The school I'm at now has no uniforms and in two months I've seen one fight. That's it No it can not. Uniforms do not reduce crime and violence in school, if the kid is likely to act out and commit crimes and violence than having a uniform on is not suddenly going to change who that person is. If the person is willing to do something wrong in the first place they will still do it.
NO! Uniforms don't have anything to do with the violence in school! Uniforms don't affect the violence in school. I've been to both public and private school. Private schools have more control than public schools do. Uniforms don't make the difference of violence, the amount of control over the students and behavior tolerance does. A uniform won't stop the fight, the adult in control will. Uniform would never help on decreasing crime because all uniform does is show school spirit and to stop bullying. I don't think in anyway uniform helps students realize that they have their school uniform on and if they commit crime they'll make their school look bad or unsafe that's why school uniform doesn't help reduce crime AT ALL!!! School uniforms don't really help in anyway. Once a teacher had stated it was better without uniform because it was easier to spot out the troublesome kids. All uniforms do is take out some fun in going to school. Wearing ordinary clothes to school is easier for you to show your individuality and no one really fights because of clothes, they fight from conflicts or childhood crushes and whatnot. It doesn't really matter what a kid is wearing, he or she can still be bullied by how they act or how smart they are or of how many friends they have. Kids can be punched across the face because a bigger person wanted the swing that the kid was sitting on. Clothes won't necessarily change anyone's attitude. No they can't. Students clothing have nothing to do with their anger. It's within not on the outside. Violence can not be decreased or increased by wearing uniforms. Uniforms are a symbol to keep students as one not against each other.
Violence is what we build up; students cannot share their feelings with other students about uniforms with physical abuse. No, it can't While school uniforms will help create an easy to follow dress code for students, students will no longer need the latest fashion item to be popular, the clothes do not actually make the student. The student can and will still choose to be whoever they want to be. If they want to be part of a gang, taking off the gang colors will not mean they are not a part of it, it just means now they are not noticeable. No, uniforms cannot reduce crime and violence in schools. The crime and violence in our schools is caused by factors that go way deeper than just clothing. There are attitudes and resentments in todayвs youth that stem from inner anger and resentment, and a need to show how tough they are. These issues and behaviors are found mostly in larger urban schools. Rural schools have occasional fights break out but they do not have the violence that city schools have. Much of the violence may come from the background a lot of these teenagers come from. School uniforms cannot do much for kids who come from broken homes, have drug and alcohol use by one or both parents, unemployed parents, or just flat out poor living conditions and poverty. These kids feel they have nothing to be proud of. School uniforms do not help crime and violence. I say this because where ever you go, no matter what you're wearing, there will be crime and violence. Uniforms can actually cause more violence and crime. Because the students don't want to wear uniforms, they will start to rebel and do things that they wouldn't have if they didn't have to wear uniforms.
